Vehicle Safety Inspection Workshop - April 20, 2022

Summary

On April 20, the Bureau will host a public workshop to discuss implementation planning and regulation development for the proposed vehicle safety inspection program.

AB 471 (Low, Chapter 372, Statutes of 2021) creates a vehicle safety inspection and certification program by January 1, 2024, that will, at a minimum, combine and ultimately replace the Bureau’s current lamp and brake inspection programs. The Bureau has solicited input from stakeholders on various aspects of the new program. The workshop will provide a draft outline of the program and allow for continued discussion on the Bureau’s implementation strategy and regulation development process.
