BAR career opportunities for auto professionals
The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) employs a staff of more than 600 dedicated employees and is continually hiring for positions at our headquarters in Rancho Cordova and field offices across the state. Auto professionals can build a successful career with BAR enforcing the laws and regulations that protect California consumers as a program representative. Using experience and knowledge gained from working in the automotive repair industry, program representatives perform important and rewarding duties and services, including, but not limited to:
- Mediating consumer complaints
- Investigating violations of the Automotive Repair Act and Smog Check Program
- Educating licensees about compliance with BAR laws and regulations
- Conducting roadside emission and collision repair inspections
- Performing analyzer gas audits
- Inspecting government and business fleets
