ASCEF funds scholarships through car donations

The Automotive Service Councils Educational Foundation (ASCEF) helps students pursue careers in automotive technology by providing scholarships and training opportunities. Since 1998, ASCEF has awarded over $225,000 in scholarships. Through its Cars4Careers program, ASCEF uses proceeds from donated cars to fund scholarships. This year, the goal is to raise $45,000 for scholarships.

Donating a car is easy. If an automotive repair dealer (ARD) or customer has a vehicle that is too damaged or expensive to repair, ASCEF’s donation support team guides the donor through the process. The support team manages the paperwork, arranges vehicle pick-up, and provides tax deduction documentation. ASCEF accepts all types of vehicles whether they are in running condition or not. The vehicle must:

  • Have a clear title
  • Be in one piece
  • Be accessible for safe towing

Automotive repair dealers are encouraged to inform their customers about the opportunity to donate a vehicle. John Eppstein, ASCEF’s Chair, commented, “Awarding these scholarships to students pursuing a degree in automotive technology is crucial for fostering innovation and excellence in the automotive industry. By supporting these students, we invest in their future and ensure the development of skilled professionals who will drive the advancements and sustainability of the automotive sector.”
