ET Blasts Keep Smog Check Inspectors Informed
To ensure timely and effective communication of information to Smog Check inspectors, repair technicians and station owners, BAR sends Electronic Transmission (ET) Blasts directly to the Smog Check inspection equipment of licensed Smog Check stations. ET Blasts provide important information on equipment and software updates, inspection procedures, program changes, and other announcements impacting the industry and consumers.
ET Blasts were first introduced in the early 1990s and continue to serve as a critical resource to notify inspectors, station owners, and other personnel of official BAR updates. Stations are required by the Smog Check Manual to have accessible all ET Blasts dated after January 1, 2012 related to inspection procedures. ET Blasts may be maintained in electronic and/or hardcopy format and must be provided in hardcopy format to BAR upon request.
Inspectors and station owners are encouraged to check for new ET Blasts when logging on to their inspection equipment. Need to find a previous ET Blast or review blasts on a particular subject? Search for ET Blasts by year and category on the ET Blasts page at www.bar.ca.gov.
