STAR Program

In accordance with Assembly Bill (AB) 2289 (Eng, Chapter 258, Statutes of 2010), the Bureau of Automotive Repair implemented the STAR Program on January 1, 2013. The program replaced the previous Gold Shield Program, which sunsetted on December 31, 2012, and offers voluntary certification to Smog Check stations that meet high inspection-based performance standards.
