Automotive Repair Dealer And Smog Check Station Licensing

The forms linked on this page must be submitted to the Department of Consumer Affairs Licensing Division for processing. You may fill in these forms on your computer, but you must sign and date them by hand and mail them to DCA. It is your responsibility to ensure that you complete the entire form and submit it with the correct fees. Submission of incomplete or incorrect forms could result in fee forfeiture.

 Bureau of Automotive Repair Licensing Unit announces new telephone hours.  The BAR Licensing unit telephone hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

 The current processing time for applications is 3 to 4 weeks. Please call to check the status of your application during regular phone hours if you have not received your license or registration within 6 weeks.

Smog Check Stations

A registered Automotive Repair Dealer (ARD) may apply for a Smog Check Station license by completing the following application forms. They may be submitted together with an application for registration as an ARD or separately, after you have already become registered as an ARD.

  Use this application for both Test Only and Test-and-Repair stations; check box on top for station type.
