Step 5: What happens next?

All applications go through a review process. Please allow 4-6 weeks for the application review process.

Warning: You cannot begin working as an ARD until you receive your official ARD registration from BAR.

Remember: Applications can take 4 -6 weeks for processing. Please DO NOT CALL BAR until after 6 weeks have passed, if you have not heard from BAR about your application.

What if there are problems with my application?

If there is a problem with your application or review process, you may receive a Deficiency Letter from BAR requesting clarification or further information. Usually the Deficiency Letter can be faxed back to BAR with the requested information, to speed up the process.

If the problems with an applicant are serious enough, the application may be rejected. If an application is rejected, the rejection letter will describe what rights an applicant has regarding possible appeal or reconsideration of the application.
